Daiya the Balsam Poplar Dryad

A dryad is a tree spirit or nymph that lives in a tree. This Tales from the Lilypad original story by Marlene Wurfel is about a Black Poplar dryad named Daiya. This story is loosely inspired by Greek mythology and greatly inspired by my love for Balsam Poplars. Yeah, it gets a bit sappy.

Thumbelina by Marlene Wurfel

A retelling of Thumbelina. The best known version was written by Hans Christian Anderson in 1835. In Marlene Wurfel's version,  the tiny, beautiful girl born in a flower does not become a child bride, and some Canadian fauna play roles in the story.
